Management/Owner first gave us notice to move within 2 weeks because we refused to pay a higher rent, until we informed him that NM State Law requires a 30-day notice. Then, within days, he rescinded the 2 week notice and gave proper notice. Our point is simple: KNOW YOUR RIGHTS or the owner, Richard C. (R.C.) Hermann, who lives in Traverse City, Michigan, will try to screw you.

Potential renters beware: Learn the New Mexico Uniform Owner-Resident Relations Act (Chapter 47 of the Statues), which is available at most libraries. Otherwise, call the City of Albuquerque Housing Division at (505) 764-3960. Either way, be an informed consumer or management may attempt to take advantage of you. And for heaven sakes, take pictures of your apartment BEFORE you move in and AFTER you leave or they will try to charge you for repairs that were not your fault.

During the five years we were there owner would rarely spend money on improvements and the wood roofs leaked in several of my neighbors apartments (in different buildings). They really seemed to like and cater to people in the armed forces and people with BIG DOGS. Unfortunately, we were not in the service and we did not have a big dog.

BOTTOM LINE: You could probably find an apartment community elsewhere where management treats their residents with more respect.
