Yo!

Pretty good overall

My boyfriend and I have lived at Netherwood Village for almost 3 years now. There isn't anything particularly special or attractive about the apartments themselves, but we have a comfortable and spacious 2BR/BA ( 950 sq.ft!). I go to UNM and walk to the Q lot shuttle which saves me $ on parking.

There are a lot of good things about the complex and some bad things as well.

The pool and hot tub are open year round, which is great. Unfortunatley, frequently the pool gets shut down because obnoxious idiots bring glass beer bottles in (despite there being signs posted EVERYWHERE forbidding glass), and for safety they are required to close it for a few days. The other problem is sometimes the management is just too lazy to open the pool, and you have to jump the fence to use it or the grills.

There are really nice grassy areas for dogs, but yes beware that many people do not pick up after their pet despite management supplying mailboxes filled with baggies for clean up.

From where we live it is always quiet and we have never been bothered by anyone living here.

The AC is brand new and works very well but the AC is only on from about May to September and then the heat (works well also) is turned on, so you don't have simultaneous usage.

The parking complaints people are making are valid. When we first moved in my boyfriend's car had it's windshield broken and hood shot up with a pellet gun, in seperate instances within ONE WEEK. We moved here from another city and didn't even know anyone, so this was a completley random act of vandalism. My car has been frequently scratched and HIT by people IN THE COMPLEX parking lot. People park so closely to you that they actually will scrape the paint off your car when they back out. You could potentially avoid this if you were willing to pay an extra 20$ a month for covered parking.

We occassionally have cockroaches (better than most places) but they do spray your apartment once a month, which does help some. The other annoying thing is that the way the utilities are calculated, you are charged a equal portion of the entire complex's usage. So for instance, if you are out of town for 2 weeks and then never use AC or anything you will still be charged $50-60/mo, so use as much electricity and AC as you want.

There are 3 elevators here (3-story complex) which are useful for moving in or if you have heavy groceries, have pets that don't do big staircases, etc.

Our experiences with managament in general have been unremarkable. Jodi does come off as a bit abrasive, but we feel she is mostly that way to people who are misbehaving. My reasoning behind this is that we have never been in trouble and as such we have never had to deal with her. Lynn is very friendly.

Overall there are some problems, but this is ABQ. For the ammenities, price, and convienence of the location this is a really nice place to live.
